Cycle Training and Support

Cycle Training

Cycle training is a great way to build your confidence on two wheels! The Sustrans Active Travel Hubs, along with funding from the Tees Valley Combined Authority, offer training for individuals, families or small groups (up to 5, including the instructor).

Training can cover everything from the basics of balance and road safety, to cycling as a family and managing heavy traffic roads.

Contact your local Active Travel Hub who will be able to arrange training to suit you.

Bike Buddy

If you’re thinking about cycling a regular journey but don’t quite have the confidence to do it alone, the free ‘Bike Buddy’ one-to-one guided ride scheme can help!

Your Bike Buddy ride leader will plan a safe route from your home to your destination, according to your cycling ability and confidence. They will then ride with you all the way, guiding you along the route, advising you on how to manage junctions, roundabouts or any other sections of the journey you’re not sure about. After your ride with your Bike Buddy, you will have the confidence to cycle safely again and again.

The Bike Buddy scheme operate throughout Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton.
